Two Valuable Coins from USA and UK

There are thousands of valuable coins in the world and are often circulated without an individual even knowing the worth. You can easily find some coins that are 100 years old or more. In fact, most of these are very rare – especially the ones you find with the Double dies. These are indeed very valuable and a single coin can even be $50,000 if you get lucky. Here are a couple coins just to get you started.

The 1933 Gold Double Eagle
There are about 440,000 Double Eagle coins available and each is $20. These were actually minted during the year of 1933. During the time Franklin D. Roosevelt was president, he passed a law to prohibit the
public from owning gold. Thus, these coins were issued to be melted and almost all of them were – except for 2 copies which were given to the Smithsonian Institute. A few of them are actually still out there though and among one of those is the one that was bought by King Farouk in Egypt in the year of 1944. The last time this coin was ever auctioned was in 2002 at $7,590,020.

Edward III Double Leopard
One of the first larger coins in England was the Edward III Double Leopard. It was actually auctioned for $841,800 in England. This is the most expensive that anyone has ever came across in England. There are only 3 of these in the world and that’s what makes this coin so rare. It is owned in a private series while the other 2 are located in England’s museum. It’s obverse side is of Edward III of course who is before Gothic portico and wears a beautiful crown. This coin get’s it’s value in it’s deep history. For example, at one point it was prohibited, only be legal for about 7 months. It was actually replaced by another coin, the Gold Noble in 1344.
